It has a comparatively wide fretboard (about 47 mm or 1.850 in at the nut ) and a snake-shaped, slotted headstock. The top is also rather thin, at about 2 mm (0.079 in). The top of the guitar is gently arched or domeda feature achieved by bending a flat piece of wood rather than by the violin -style carving used in archtop guitars. Two moustache markers are fixed to the soundboard to help position the movable bridge. The strings pass over a movable bridge and are gathered at the tail, as on a mandolin. The guitar was closely associated with jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt. Selmer, a French manufacturer, produced the instrument from 1932 to about 1952. Sparky is a dawg with a bone, if he couldnt find the information associated with the previous post that you piggy-back upon it probably isnt out there.Įlsewhere, some high grade luthiers have offered Selmer-style guitars. I would suggest you check them out and see if you can find your model. If you find out more about this brand Id love to hear updates. I believe my uncle bought this guitar in Ireland not sure where exactly in Ireland though.
